This work is inspired by the young Parthenope, the siren who tried to enchant Ulysses but, rejected, died of sorrow on the seashore…

And there, where her body touched the land, a city was born: Naples.

The painting was first created on a wall using lime, sand, and natural pigments (soot for black and Bianco San Giovanni for white). The pictorial layer was then detached from the wall and transferred onto canvas using the calico technique. Finally, the piece was restored with a unique natural method devised by the artist, allowing the image to re-emerge in a three‑dimensional form on the canvas.

The figure of Parthenope, the legendary siren, is a deeply significant symbol for Naples. She represents the birth of the city, its bond with the sea, and its cultural identity.

Quest’opera è ispirata alla giovane Partenope, la sirena che tentò di incantare Ulisse, ma, respinta, morì di dolore sulle rive del mare…
E lì, dove il suo corpo toccò terra, nacque una città: Napoli.

Il dipinto è stato inizialmente realizzato su una parete con calce, sabbia e pigmenti naturali (fuliggine per il nero e pigmento Bianco San Giovanni per il bianco). Successivamente, la pellicola pittorica è stata staccata dalla parete e trasferita su tela con la tecnica del calico. Infine, l’opera è stata restaurata con una tecnica naturale unica, ideata dall’artista, che ha permesso all’opera di riemergere tridimensionalmente sulla tela.

La figura di Partenope, la leggendaria sirena, è un simbolo molto importante per Napoli. Rappresenta la nascita della città, il suo legame con il mare e la sua identità culturale.
