“Venus with the Mask” represents the second skin of women the mask they wear every day in an attempt to resemble her. Yet they often fail to realize that their own beauty, authentic and alive, far surpasses that of the goddess. In the end, the roles reverse: it is no longer women who need Venus, but Venus who needs them. Without the soul of a woman, even the goddess remains an empty figure.

In this work, the artist has transferred an original fresco from the wall onto velvet, using a highly complex process based on the calicot technique and artistic aging.

“Venere con la maschera” rappresenta la seconda pelle delle donne, la maschera che indossano quotidianamente nel tentativo di assomigliarle. Eppure, spesso non si accorgono che la loro bellezza, autentica e viva, supera di gran lunga quella della dea. Alla fine, i ruoli si invertono: non sono più le donne ad aver bisogno di Venere, ma Venere ad aver bisogno di loro. Senza l’anima di una donna, anche la dea rimane una figura vuota.

In quest’opera l’artista ha trasferito un affresco originale dalla parete al velluto, utilizzando un processo molto complesso basato sulla tecnica del calicot e dell’invecchiamento.
