Strappo di Affresco e restauro con tecnica mista

This work draws inspiration from the statue of Cupid and Psyche discovered in a Roman villa submerged in the Gulf of Naples, in Vico Equense. Although the statue is now lost, the artist has brought it back to life through the ancient technique of fresco painting, the same used in Pompeii more than 2,000 years ago.

The painting was first created on a wall using lime, sand, and natural pigments (soot for black and Bianco San Giovanni for white). The pictorial layer was then detached from the wall and transferred onto canvas using the calico technique. Finally, the piece was restored with a unique natural method devised by the artist, allowing the image to re-emerge in a three dimensional form on the canvas.
Through this work, the artist, using ancient materials offered by nature, reaffirms her profound connection to the past and to her homeland, rich in history and mystery. She pays homage to eternal love, embodied in the embrace of Cupid and Psyche, protagonists of the oldest love story known to the world.

Quest’opera trae ispirazione dalla statua di Amore e Psiche ritrovata in una villa romana sommersa nel Golfo di Napoli a Vico Equense. La statua, purtroppo oggi perduta, è stata riportata alla luce dall’artista attraverso l’antica tecnica dell’affresco, la stessa utilizzata a Pompei più di 2000 anni fa. La pittura è stata inizialmente realizzata sulla parete con calce, sabbia e pigmenti naturali (fuliggine per il nero e pigmento Bianco San Giovanni per il bianco). Successivamente, la pellicola pittorica è stata staccata dalla parete e trasferita su tela con la tecnica del calico. Infine, l’opera è stata restaurata con una tecnica naturale unica, ideata dall’artista, che ha permesso all’opera di riemergere tridimensionalmente sulla tela. Con quest’opera, l’artista, utilizzando gli antichi materiali offerti dalla natura, ha voluto riaffermare il suo profondo legame con il passato e con la sua terra ricca di storia e mistero, e ha voluto rendere omaggio all’amore eterno, rappresentato dall’abbraccio di Amore e Psiche, protagonisti della più antica storia d’amore conosciuta al mondo.
